Remote and hybrid work brought some unexpected benefits for both employees and businesses, and the majority want to hold on to them. A recent Gartner® survey polled “400+ senior business leaders about their 2022-23 priorities and technology-related thinking. The top response (55%) called out remote and hybrid working, outweighing all others combined.” Gartner found “CEOs see employees’ desire for remote and hybrid work as the biggest behavior shift post pandemic, and CEOs’ main hybrid-work concerns are culture and productivity.”*
Company leaders face a unique challenge of either reimagining or reinforcing their culture for a world where natural occurrences of culture-driven actions happen outside the office. Knowing the old ways won’t work in this situation, it’s necessary to intentionally establish your culture by increasing touch points for remote employees, reimagining onboarding processes, and fostering inclusive communication. Companies that adapt to an intentional immersion of culture across a digital workplace will ensure long-term engagement and productivity, while driving collaboration and innovation.
Critical characteristics to consider:
Share and reinforce important values and vision
Create an environment that fits the way you work
Prioritize trust and access to leadership
Cultivate consistent experiences regardless of location
